It is unavoidable for your yoga mat not to stay clean without any care. Your sweat, dirt on the studio floor, dust in the air will add up and leave your mat sticky and stinky. And obviously, no one wants to practice on a smelly and sticky mat. So how do you keep your Yoga Mat clean? We did some research and here is what we found.
1) Use a home made cleaning solution after each practice
Create your own cleaning solution by simply mixing equal parts of white vinegar and water. Spray the solution on your mat and wipe it with a paper towel or cloth after each practice. If you don’t want to mix your own solution, you can always use a ready to use solution sold at most yoga studios.
2) Place a yoga towel on your mat
Placing a towel on your mat during practice will absorb your sweat and will help keep your mat clean. This will also prevent you from slipping on the mat.
3) Air out your mat at home and on the go
